I have been wondering, since she started smiling, when she will start smiling at me while she's nursing. And the answer is, today! There is honestly nothing more tender than looking down at your hungry baby and seeing her take a quick break to flash you a big grin. That was one of my favorite moments with Ella, too.
Ella outdid her usual nursing smile the other night (yep, still breastfeeding), when she took a break, looked up at me and said "happy girl". It was the sweetest thing. I am so grateful we still have that relationship, even though I never ever thought I would breastfeed this long. It has been an interesting breastfeeding journey, learning about the benefits of extended breastfeeding, and realizing that just don't mind nursing a toddler.

Jess, I had NO idea you were still nursing Ella. How do you nurse two kids at the same time? Seriously. I need you to explain it to me! You are a brave lady! Your girls are darling!! Love you.
I tried both at once and it was not fun for me AT ALL. Ella just nurses at bedtime after I feed Charlotte... So it's not like she gets much nourishment (but still tons of antibodies), it's just a nice time to relax and be together before bed.
WOW! I had no idea.
I didn't mean that you should nurse them at the same time. I just meant I have never heard of anyone having two nursing children that weren't both "babies."
But I am sure it is a special time for you and Ella.
Here is how dumb I am...I didn't know you could be pregnant and still breastfeed. I thought once you got pregnant the milk stopped coming in. Learn something new everyday. :)
What darling sisters!
It's like I am looking at Paul at that age. The resemblance is absolutely remarkable. Good thing he turned out so dang good looking--otherwise we'd be worried :)
